Cheryl Cullina: Hi, I'm Cheryl Cullina and I'm a cardio kickbox instructor. This video is all about cardio kickbox techniques and I would like to show you one of the basic kicks, and that is a roundhouse kick. Remember your safety positions, just like the sidekick; we turn the standing leg in so that the heel points in the direction of the target. This roundhouse kick is a little bit different than a sidekick. A roundhouse kick starts with your heel back and your knee in line with your hip. It's a kick with the shoelace, and a heel pulls back rather than the knee into the chest like on the sidekick. Let me demonstrate it from a side view so that you can see the difference. We're going to set the bottom heel, we're going to give ourselves a target, take a look at the target, heel back, foot, knee, hip, all in a straight line, push with the shoelace, bring it back and set it down. That's a roundhouse kick, lets move on.
