Robert Reames's Tips to Fight Flab Dr. Travis: You’ve got some great pointers, what’s the number one thing when it comes to battling flab in your opinion? Robert: If you want a flab burning machine, you’ve got a strength train, you’ve got to build muscles and you’ve got to think about not just maybe going in a little arm curl here too you’ve got to work large muscle group. Squats, lunges, big pushes, big pulls where you’re accessing the maximum amount of muscles in every given workout. For every pound muscle that you can gain, you can burn depending on who you are up to 50 to 100 calories per day by doing absolutely nothing. You just built into your day. And it’s important to know too that anybody can do this and Cynthia is a great, great example of that. I mean she came in not a real athletic background but became an athlete. And I think that there’s an athlete in everybody and Cynthia proves it. And look at the results. Dr. Drew: Cynthia also went through gastric bypass, correct? Robert: Right. Dr. Drew: But you make such a great point Robert that that alone the surgical fix is not enough. You have to make life changes in terms of what you’re eating but also getting on the training program that you just, just described. Robert: That’s right because the gastric bypass is a definite jump start, but unless you attain the lifestyle that’s going to keep you to where you wanted to be, if you incorporate those old lifestyles habits he/she will right back up and you’re going to gain more weight even more possibly. Dr. Travis: And there’s a huge fallacy out there, especially for women that if you lift weight you going to get all buffed like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Robert: Right. Dr. Travis: No, you’re not. You're going to become a fat burning machine and if you really want to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger it takes a lot more than just lifting weights. Robert: Right. Dr. Drew: What are you saying Travis? Dr. Travis: No, I’m just saying that – I’m saying that men with our testosterone etcetera if we lift weights we will put on maybe more bulky muscles. Women will get more tone, they’ll burn more calories. Dr. Lisa: There are some women that have a lot of muscle though. Dr. Travis: Well and some women try to look muscular and it depends on what you want. But I think you’re great example of adding resistance training and it’s giving you a wonderful figure. And you’ll feel better too.
