Sallie Fraenkel: The benefit of coming to a salt room is it’s really very good for your respiratory system. So nowadays there are so many pollutants in our air and environmental concerns and you see kids getting asthma and grownups with sinus infection and bronchitis. And breathing in the salt air can really help with all those conditions. Ron Rofe: I started it because my mom was sick with a bad lung disease a few years ago. Thank God today she’s okay. We were traveling in New York, we went on a family vacation and we used one of these salt rooms and remarkably it really helped her breathing. Sallie Fraenkel: What is a trend here in the United States is actually a very old established kind of treatment in a lot of European countries. People would go to salt caves or take salt therapy for also skin treatments, you know, eczema, psoriasis all of the respiratory deals, issues and also as a detox and relaxation. Ron Rofe: Right here this is where the salt particles—the machine is behind here… Lesley: Oh yeah you can feel it. Ron Rofe: This is what anomizes the salt and this is what pumps it to the room. Lesley: Well I suffer from allergies year round so I'm wondering how this is going to help my sinuses. Ron Rofe: It goes all the way to the end of your airways and along the way they absorb mucus, bacteria, pollution and give your airway a detox. So it cleans all those impurities that are in your airways. Lesley: You know the feeling that you get when you go to the beach when you're breathing in the salt air from the spray, from the waves can be a little bit like the feeling you’ll have here when you're lying in this room with the salt o the floor, the salt on the walls. Ron Rofe: It’s a natural rock salt it’s not a refine salt like the table salt that you use when you go out to a restaurant or at home. Its sodium chloride low in endotoxins. It’s very, very pure salts. It’s never been touched. It’s 300 meters below ground. Lesley: Now Audra I know you're up all night with the baby but they sent me out here to relax at a spa.
