Recovery from Open-Heart Surgery The one who should be prepared for the fact that for a couple of days you actually feel very nervous about everything because you cannot walk the way you used to walk before you went to visit. I pretty much walked into my surgery right and when they got me off the bed, my legs just buckled, you know I couldn’t stand and I was like, “Lord I have to learn how to walk.” And then when I finally did manage to walk, I walked like four or five steps and I was totally breathless and panting like a puppy and that was so scary and I said, “Lord how am I ever going to cook and clean and look after my kids and stuff?” So the thing is it always gets better, each days are much better than the previous days so just have faith and believe in your doctor.
