Recovering from Bacterial Spinal Meningitis Patti: So, I stayed in the hospital for 10 days taking the antibiotics and not really feeling much better. But the nurses had told me that for every day you’re in the hospital, it takes three or four days for any kind of recovery. So, in my mind I’m figuring “Well, it’s going to be a while until I fell better.” But after going home, I had nursing care in the morning and then in the evening. They would come and administer the antibiotics and it will take about an hour to be infused with the drugs. So, I was tied to home not really getting my strength back or not really feeling like I should. But being the main breadwinner in my family, I wanted to get back to things and back to work as quickly. I had some jobs to finish up and I had some traveling to do. I had to go to Italy. I had to go to Atlanta. I had to go to Idaho. Some jobs to finish. I needed to get them achieved and keep things rolling that I needed to for my family.
