Audra: Oh baby, if you're expecting a little one, you know one of the biggest challenges is putting together that perfect nursery. But, never fear, we've got baby planner Desiree Miller on the job and she’s got some really cool must-haves for every crib out there. So you got your crib and your changing table but, your nursery is not quite done just yet. Desiree: There are certain basics everybody knows about as far as the nursery is concerned but then there are some really fun extras that make life easier for the baby which makes life easier for mom. Audra: We met up with baby planner Desiree Miller of bottlestobridges.com for her top five nursery must-haves. First step, these soft sweet stuffed animals from Cloud B that double as comforting noise makers. Desiree: It's the heartbeat or the sound of the mother’s womb or waves on the ocean or rain. There are all meant to help the baby sleep more which helps the mother. Audra: We all know that swaddling can make a baby feel safe and secure and it's easy to do with these swaddling blankets by Aden and Annie. Desiree: It helps with the baby sleeping, almost fold them up like a little tuck, I call them burrito babies but it helps with sleeping. But it's important to not overheat them. So, something like this that’s really light weight is really something that would be essential but it also doubles. You can use it as a cover for nursing or you can use it as a cover over a stroller. Audra: Next, a fun easy way to boost your baby’s brain power with these black and white stickers from Smarts Art. Desiree: For a long time, parents have known that black and white are the first images, first colors that a baby can detect. And it's supposed to help stimulate the brain. So, Smarts Art ahs come out with these little stickables which are removable. They can put them by the changing table or just off the crib. But essentially, it's what the baby can make out in the first couple of months of life. It's meant to help stimulate their brain. Audra: After that intense brain workout, it's time for a nap who Desiree suggests a sleep monitor to ease parents minds. Desiree: This is the snooze a halo which essentially attaches on the diaper. This little monitor touches the belly and then it tells the parent if there is no movement for 20 seconds. It will vibrate to try and stimulate movement in the baby first to start and startle them and then it will sound an alarm. A device like this would be really, really helpful to parents to be able to breath, sleep and know that if something happens with the child, they’ll hear about it. And the alarm will go off and they’ll be able to react accordingly. Audra: And lastly, take a look at these wonder bumpers designed to keep the baby from bumping his head. Desiree: For a long, long time they’ve been bumpers in the bed but there is the concern about making sure that the child can't muzzle their face up against the bumper. And this particular company came up with this as a solution because you don’t want your baby ramming up against the wooden slots and hitting their head against wood. So, this is almost like you see the filed goals in the end zone at football games and they have the nice padding, same concept where it goes around each individual slot to protect the baby’s head and the crib. Audra: Desiree says with these five nursery must-haves, your baby will have a safe, sound sleep and that means you will too.
