Pure Barre Ballerina Workout WatchMojo.com Annick: Now we’re targeting the interscapular and subscapular muscles. Those are the muscles underneath your shoulder blades. Pull them together. Squeeze them together. Veronica: Pure Barre is a workout that will burn fat, tone your arms, thin your thighs and flatten your abs. Annick: Keep working the belly if you don’t let go of your belly. Veronica: Hi, I’m Veronica at watchmojo.com and today we’re looking at a workout that will have you dancing like a ballerina. Annick: Try to make the movement smooth and beautiful. The elbows, no longer exists. Veronica: So what is Pure Barre Annick Robinson: (Pure Barre) The pure barre class is based on my years of experience as a classical ballerina and I took the exercises that we used to do on the barre and I transferred them into a conditioning practice that we do in a class without a barre and when we take those pure simple exercise we transfer them into a class without a barre your abdominals start to do all the work that the barre would do so it’s a fantastic very simple exercise that really tones and targets the muscles and the core, the legs and the arms. Veronica: What type of results will you see from this class? Annick: Most people notice that they’re immediately more toned and firm in the stomach because we spend so much time pulling the belly muscles in but they’ll really notice a big difference in their posture, their alignment and the leanness and the tone of their muscles. Veronica: Now there are workouts where you bulk up and there are workouts where you tone what’s the difference? Annick: One of the things that maybe people would like to avoid is putting on a lot of mass and mass happens when you’re lifting very heavy weights but what happens in a ballet class because you’re holding your body for a very long amount of time in isometric contraction without any weight you’re developing long lean and very toned and defined muscles. Veronica: Is there anyway you can prepare for this class? Annick: Buy some ballet shoes, a ballet slipper is made half of leather and underneath is a piece of suede so the suede piece of the leather helps the foot resist against the ground creating the resistance just like in resistance training exercise and the slippery part of the toe helps the legs slide up and kick up for all of the muscles and exercise that we do with the legs suspended. Veronica: Besides looking fitter what other benefits will you benefit from this class? Annick: Most people spend their whole day hunched over so they’re hunched over their computer keyboard but they’re hunched over their course during wheel so they spend a lot of time creating a negative posture and so when you’re doing your ballet class and you’re spending the whole class opening and tightening the muscles at the back you are actually correcting your posture and your real productive way.
