Host: How strongly does athletics and extra curricular activities weigh in the decision process? Andrew Battaile: Private schools look at all sorts of things when you are applying, academics as well as extra curricular. If your son or your daughter is a great athlete or if they participate in the community these are good things. It will not make them break your application. What school wants to see is, they want to see young men and women who will come and be part of the community. They will make their schools better. They will not just come in the morning and leave in the afternoon. They will come and be on a team. They will participate in a club, may be community service. Whatever that might be if your child is more active, it does help. However, I don't know for the most part, I think it is a wise thing for schools to make decisions based on that solely. I don't know if any school that does do that.
