Poor Candidates for MR Guided Focused Ultrasound Some patients that have more than five fibroids are not great candidates for this procedure, and that’s pretty much because of the technology limitations right now. Right now, the FDA has said that we can keep a patient on the table for up to three to four hours during this procedure. If we have more than five fibroids, then we have to localize each fibroid and then treat it and that can be very time consuming. So right now, to effectively treat a patient in one sitting, they pretty much have to have under five fibroids.
