Host: Should physical size be considered in determining the child s readiness for kindergarten? Dr. Rene Hackney: I would not think physical size alone would be a good determine for kindergarten readiness, but if you have got a child how is immature socially and not really not interested in learning and happens to be very small for their age that might add -- be an added factor. If you have got a child who is really ready to learn and they are huge for their size, holding them back will just make them that much more different in their appearance. So, it may be an additional factor, but not a factor alone.
