Dr. Rene Hackey: By kindergarten entering, most kindergarteners physically can hop on one foot, they can pull up and down their own pants for toileting, they can get their coat on and off, they tend to have a hand preference maybe not a hand dominance but they use one hand more often than the other. While none of those things would keep a child out of kindergarten, those physical milestones are just what's typical.
