The U.S. government adopted the Patients Bill of Rights, to help patients feel more confident in the healthcare system and to give them a way to address any problems they may encounter. For instance you have the right to considerate and respectful care. You also have the right to obtain complete current information about your diagnosis and treatment in easy to understand terms. Ask you healthcare provider for a list of your rights or contact the American Hospital Association at AHA.org.
