Hi I'm Dr. Debra from topworkoutsecrets.com. And today I've got you in my kitchen with me to show you one of my secret weapons and favorite things. This morning I've worked out. I've worked my horses, little wind blooms, really ready for something that’s refreshing and satisfying for lunch. So one of my secret weapons so to speak or secrets of staying fit is called a green smoothie. Today’s green smoothie, what I've got is about three oranges and apricots have in season. I've got four apricots. I'm just going to take my vita mix. Put all the oranges in. then just split the apricots. That’s all you need to do. If you have a vita mix, it makes really handy because it's the work course of blenders. I'm going to take and add some water. You don’t need a whole lot because the oranges are so juicy, so maybe half or ¾ of a cup. I'm going to start with those. You want some vitamin C in that blender. Okay, so next what I have is some kale. It pretty much is the green part of the smoothie. Green smoothies can be any color. It's just that they have greens blended in them. So we put both of those pieces of kale in there. Blend that up. A lot of times with this smoothie, not only do I have the kale but I'll add some baby spinach as well like a handful of baby spinach. So glass, here is my green smoothie. I like mine, some people like to add ice. They like this colder. I don’t tend to like mine that way. I tend to like mine a little on the warmer side. But you certainly can do that as well. It really sounds really simple oranges, apricots, and some kale. The fruit overrides the greens. It's a great way to get more nutrition, all the minerals that are in the dark leafy greens. You can get a lot more greens in your diet this way. It's not cooked so it retains all its nutrients. It's pulverized by the blender, so everything is broken up, easy to digest. It tastes like oranges and apricots. So, it's easier to eat. Let’s see what this one tastes like. That’s good. So now you have something that’s refreshing, nutritious and these are very filling kind. I don’t know if it's the fiber in the greens but they’re very, very filling. So nothing fancy. There is no extra powders or potions or anything that I put in. it's just fruit that tends to be in season, easy to hand and some organic greens put in there.
