Olivia Newton John's Breast Cancer Discovery Male: You know you read through all the amazing things that you’ve done in your career but what we love on this show is how much you’ve also done to raise awareness about so many important things. In particular, the reason we have you on the show today-- Female: And to talk about your experience with breast cancer and you actually found your own lump in 1992 right? Even though it wasn’t seen on mammogram and you even had a biopsy and its still didn’t show anything. Olivia Newton John: I didn’t feel well, I didn’t feel quite right and so I found lumps before and they’ve been benign but I went in for a check up and he felt--he felt something and so he said I’ll send you for a mammogram. It was--it didn’t show which is very common I believe, 1/3 of women it doesn’t show on the mammogram so he even did a biopsy, I was negative but I didn’t feel right and kind of encouraged more so he did surgical work and we found it. So you have to listen to your instincts too. Male: That’s what we talk about all the time, get to know your body and listen to your body and thank god you did.
