Noticing a Deterioration in My Vision - Catherine's Story Well, as you get older your eyes get worse and every couple of years when you go for your eye exam, it would get stronger or need to get stronger, and I would try and talk the eye doctor and to giving me the weaker of the eye exam prescriptions for my glasses or my contacts. But they would usually say, “Well you are here on the charts - - you are not here, you know, you need this to correct your vision,” and they would try to get you to 20:20 or something close to it. Every couple of years when that compounds over a significant timeframe, several decades, you end up with significantly bad vision. And when I really noticed it is after I hit 40 and I was driving in different towns looking for locations to business sites that I had to go to and looking at a map in my hand or looking at the Garmen trying to see where I was going, and I noticed how close my vision had changed also. I was near-sighted, but I notice this far-sighted change occurring and it was at that point I knew things were changing in my body, and I started reading up on eye health and read that as you hit 40, sometimes it’s pretty significant that your far-sightedness changes. So, close vision has a tendency to change in people after they hit 40.
