Micrognathia (small jaws) - Jaw Leng Male1: You have a device that looks like a key almost. Male2: Right. Let us put on this black so that you can see it. Does it work? Male1: Okay, we see. What is that sir? Male2: You can put this on a baby’s jaw and it can make a jaw grow a millimeter in a day or within seven or eight days, you can make a baby’s jaw in normal size and avoid either doing the tracheostomy on the baby where there is a hole in the throat. Male1: By turning it into something? Male2: Yes, you just turn this and it just grows on this effect. Male1: Once you use that device will that bone keep growing--- Male2: The bone will just grow and then will grow normally after that. Male1: So it is a rather minor procedure, you get maximum results? Male2: Maximum results and it is in the rare instances but you know we see a lot, at neonatal has used where these kids will have otherwise had a tracheostomy for two to three years of their life. So they get bigger. Within a matter of 10 days, we can normalize them. Male1: This device is invented where? Male2: Well, the device uses the—it was invented initially to make legs longer. It was rationalizing the act. Now maxillofacial surgeons have devised and worked with companies and they made this for the jaw, it has been around about eight or nine, seven or eight years and you can use it on young kids, you can use it on infants, you can use it on younger kids, but it allows you to grow a new bone. It allows you to make bones much bigger and then for the baby the results are really impressive which is, like I said you have a situation where a baby would have be there on a tracheostomy for three years of his life or two weeks later ago he goes home as a normal baby. Male1: But some of these kids might be down the road, might need some corrective surgery? Male2: They have noted, well, for the finding, you will find after that. So far, the ones I have treated have all done fine. Male1: Oh it is amazing if something like that is available to them. Male2: Yes. Male1: And all came out of that rusting device just takes—unbelievable.
