The usual way that it presents is in the acute setting. The athlete or patient tears the MCL from a grade one, two, grade three and they have immediate pain, they get swelling and stiffness. And that takes a while to settle down depending on the grade of tear. Grade three’s take much longer, grade one’s quicker.
