Maxi Cosi Mico Infant Car Seat Review Hi. I’m Erica with babyssentials.com and I’ll be your host today. I’m going to be talking about the Maxi Cosi Mico infant car seat. Now this seat is for smaller babies. It’s for babies between 5 and 22 pounds and 19 to 29 inches long. And of course this is a rear facing infant car seat. As you can tell, this has a very narrow profile and an ergonomic design. What that really means is its fits great in a smaller car. It also even fits on an airplane seat without you even having to lift the armrest up. Its ASA certified for planes and it also meets all US and European safety standards which is obviously important. The one down side to this small profile is that a lot of parents have complain if their babies actually rather quickly. So that’s something to really keep in mind when you’re thinking about purchasing the Maxi Cosi Mico. In terms of comfort features, I think that this seat seems to be very comfortable for a small baby. It comes with EPP foam and what that basically means is that it’s very comfortable but it also has a lot of shock absorption so basically in terms of safety. It also comes with this insert here. You can see I have the insert in and this is great if you have a very small baby because it just adds a little bit of extra padding without compromising the safety feature. Of course this insert is completely removable. So once your baby gets a little bit bigger, you can take it right out. It also comes with an adjustable 5-point harness which is obviously a great feature to have in an infant car seat. In terms of the features that this car seat comes with, first of all it comes with a folding back canopy for the sun. So here it is folded back but of course you can push it forward if it’s sunny out. A lot of parents have complains however and I just want to note this that they wish that this canopy pushed even a little bit forward to kind of shield their baby absolutely and completely from the sun. So I want to point that out to you. It also in terms of features comes with a retractable handle and the way that that works is you just push in these buttons here and the handle comes forward and backwards. This car seat is really convenient and easy to use. The thing that I like about it is it comes with a base and the base basically just stays in your car and of course the base works with a latch system. For more information on the latch system, you can go to our Baby101 section. It will tell you everything you need to know but like I was saying the base stays in your car and then the great thing is you can take the actual unit out and use it as part of a travel system. So if your baby is sleeping in the car and you’re at your destination, you can easily just take this out, attach it to a travel system and you get it as a stroller and your baby stays asleep in the entire time. Now in order to take it and out of the car, it’s pretty simple. I’m going to show you how to do it. Like I said, this car seat comes with a retractable handle. So you push the handle forward like so. Then what you do is there is a pull to release button in the back and you pull and then you just take the car seat out and it releases and you just attach it into your travel system. When you’re gone and you want to go back in the car, it’s very simple. It snaps right back in. All you need to do is just wait for the clicking sound like that and you’re all set. The last thing that I want to mention about the Maxi Cosi Mico Infant car seat is that it actually tilts back and forth in order to adjust properly for your baby’s comfort and safety. And right underneath the pull to release button is how you do that. Now I recommend doing this without your actual baby in the car seat because it is a little bit rough to do. So basically underneath, you’ll see a gray button that says “Pull to adjust base”. And you pull that out with your hand and then you hold on to the front of the car seat, you lift it up to adjust acco
