Speaker: Can I trick myself into believing I am eating more than I really am? Elizabeth Rahavi: Well, fruits and vegetables are certainly one way to trick your mind into thinking that you are eating more than you actually are. In fact, some research studies have come out showing that if you eat broth based or a salad before your on tray, you can actually consume less calories for the entire meal than if you were just to eat the on tray alone. Now, if you're eating with some friends there are some other strategies that you can employ. Think about if you have ever had a time or somebody has been interviewing you over lunch. Chances are that your meal lasted a longer duration or time. Think about the next time you eat with a group of friends interviewing them, so that your meals are more about the company that you keep and less about the food that you eat. Now, if you are eating alone there are some other strategies that you can employ. This includes putting your fork down between every two to four bites or you can try eating with smaller plates and smaller cups, this way it just looks like you have more food on your plate.
