Lorie's Recovery from Cervical Cancer Surgery Post-surgery recovery for my first surgery was quick, maybe too quick. Maybe I didn’t think about the hospital bed and the fact that it tilted up and down and my bed at home didn’t, big difference. The fact that someone was going to bring me tea and lunch in my bed and at home, I may not have someone to bring up the food and prepare. However, I pushed myself. I made sure that I didn’t stop moving. I made sure that after the surgery that that morning I had surgery, that afternoon I was out of the bed. That afternoon I was walking the hallway and I was greeting others in the hallway and saying hello and I wanted my spirits to stay up. I wanted to move and I wanted to stay moving. It may not have been in my best interest to move so fast, but I feel good that I did. I feel good that I did, however that tilting bed in the hospital, it counts for something.
