LL Cool J reveals that he keeps his body in great shape by following a meal plan that combines carbohydrates, fats and protein in different ways throughout the week.

LL Cool J's Meal Plan Dr. Drew Ordon: You’ve come up with your LL Cool J meal plan right? LL Cool J: Yeah. Dr. Drew Ordon: And what you’re doing is your mixing these three food groups and that coincides with the kind of workout you’re doing at that time. LL Cool J: And basically what you want to do is I just spike my body. I just want to shock your body and confuse your body and just make your body go through changes so it doesn’t get used to anything. So you eat your calorie restriction when your body feels like it’s going to stop burning muscles then you throw in some fat, and then you throw in some fat and you get grow when you throw in some carbs and then you take the carbs out. And you stop the carbs and you take the carbs out and what happens is your body never gets used to it. It constantly goes up and down. You’re always confusing it and fooling it, and allows you to lose weight. And let me tell you guys something else this is even deeper. For me I was doing my TV show so I was working between 14 to 16 hours a day. The only reason that I’m in decent shape right now is because I’ve been following this program. I am telling you that that crap service table with those doughnuts, I was jelly doughnuts and these pizzas and everything over were driving me up the wall. All right, this is the only way that I was able to make it this far, and I actually did this book. We did this book while I was filming the show, so that just shows you that it really does work. And it wasn’t easy and I wasn’t able to starve myself and it wasn’t like I could stay in bed, starve myself or workout five hours a day, and get ready like some star full of video. I really was on the set everyday so this program really worked for me. Dr. Travis Stork: I think really the take home when I was looking through your book is people can get a little bit confuse by titles and okay this particular meal, but really what you’re focusing in your book which is what I believe is important for everyone because I don’t do a lot of -- what I do is I just focus on the balance of the good carbs, the good fats, the good proteins. LL Cool J: Yeah Dr. Travis Stork: And your book is really all about how to manage those. LL Cool J: Yes. Dr. Travis Stork: And do it in such a way that response. Everybody’s body type is different. LL Cool J: Yes. Dr. Travis Stork: But in the end we all need carbs. We all need fats and we all need protein, and we all need portion control. That probably the most important thing of all.
