Dr. Travis: Before the break we asked you, which of the following limes could do? Can it A) brighten skin; B) Fight Cancer; or C) Help a Hangover. Audience: All of them Dr. Travis: It is all of the above. So as a trick question— Male: The answer is always D. Dr. Travis: If you don’t know the answer choose all the above. Male: And limes are great for your skin, did you know that? These little things here because its natural fruit with a weak fruity acid in it that actually gives you a little peeling, it will get rid of some of your dark spots and a great antioxidants. What I want you to do is prepare this special little lime facial. The ingredient: 3 Tbsp of olive oil, that’s the moisturizer; a Tbsp of brown sugar, that’s a little abrasive here; as well as some sea salt. Mix those in with half a lime—the juice from half a lime and here is your final mixture and apply it on your face. Let it sit 5 to 10 minutes and then wash it off with warm water you’ve given yourself an exfoliation, a little microderm abrasion and a light fruit acid peel. Dr. Travis: And you know what’s in it. Male: And it’s all good and throw it on your salad. Dr. Lisa: And I’ve been waiting for us to do lime piece. I absolutely love limes and actually when I go to Ethiopia they actually do lime in tea, not necessarily green tea which is great. And it really brings out the flavor and kind of spices that. What they found at Purdue University is that the vitamin C in limes actually is very cancer fighting. It’s like super anti-oxidant, that’s cancer fighting. So they're really, really great. As you guys know I've been complaining about my green today that I had last night. Dr. Travis: Yes, tell us about why you may want to drink it right before you go to bed. Dr. Lisa: Well I was all into our segment and deciding I was going to have my green tea and lime and I was wired and awake all night and I'm absolutely wired today. And I'm actually talking about FDA thing. I mean a lot of herbal tea is not regulated, so that’s one reason why we don’t recommend herbal tea for pregnant women. So be careful with your herbal teas. Dr. Travis: Because you drank some tea you're not entirely sure what’s in it. Dr. Lisa: Yeah, exactly. Dr. Travis: Because Dr. Lisa came to work today she was like Travis do you drink green tea? And I was like— Male: I have a lime tree at my house and I love it. Dr. Travis: Well then you should pick some because next time I'm going to give you guys a little tip if you had one too many, if you have a little hangover lime has potassium in it. So that’s great! You can actually mix lime with water even a little teaspoon of sugar as a hangover—I won’t say cure but part remedy because it helps hydrate you, replace electrolytes and you know what it’s kind of easy on the stomach. And if you did miss any of today’s tips or for a list of the hidden ingredients in your cosmetics visit our website at the www.TheDoctorsTV.com. And when it comes to what you put in or on your body you do have to pay attention. Ignorance is not a bliss it’s just ignorance. So always ready the labels. Check the ingredients of the products you use closely. If you cannot pronounce it you might want to do a little bit of research before you eat it or apply it to the skin.
