Life expectancy with Myasthenia Gravis That brings me a little bit to talk about the need itself, myasthenia gravis. Mayo means muscles; asthenia means weakness, so muscle weakness and then gravis where did that come from? Well originally when I was diagnosed it was about a 30% chance, if you’re diagnosed then you’re going to die with in three years of getting that diagnosis and we’ve come so far with treatments, medication, were also especially our ability to treat people in an intensive care unit. Which has completely turned that around and I believe that when my patients come to me, then I could tell them that for the most part I’m going to be able to keep them safe, and keep them functioning, like they want to function. Nothings a 100% percent but there's so many things out there that can do, that help.
