Hello this is Raphael Calsedia chief in this pro for ediets.com, and we are going to be demonstrating some exercises today. We are in beautiful South Florida in West Palm Beach. So, you are going to be hearing a lot of nature crickets and it is hot and we might be sweating a little bit but we are going to have some fun today. Today I am with Giselle. And one of the exercises that I want to show today is called the Supine Leg Extension. This is a very, very good exercise for people who cannot do advance leg exercises such as squats, such as leg presses, such as any type of advance movement. This is great if you got a lot of weight to lose and you do not want to put any type of excess overload on your knee. So, Giselle is going to demonstrate the Supine Leg Extension. She is going to come up and down; she is trying to contract the quadriceps muscle, the front of the thigh. She is keeping her lower back, pressed against the matt and she is contracting the quadriceps, very safe for the knee. She is going to do about 10 to 12 on each side. She is exhaling, and she comes up inhaling, and she comes down. Notice how she is keeping that lower back nice and flat against the matt. Once you start to master this movement, you can put some ankle weights on your ankle and perform it with some weight. Very, very safe exercise, easy on the knees, works the quadriceps muscle really, really well.
