Rotator Cuff injuries are common and very prevalent because most people have rounded shoulders. Tight inner shoulder muscles and weak upper back muscles create an imbalance that makes one prone to injury. Another source of imbalance is the overuse of one arm as a preference for lifting, pushing, opening, and closing doors. Just for an experiment, try and do everything with your left dominant hand for 10 minutes. You will quickly see how conditioned you have become to overusing one arm and hand. The following exercises will help create and reestablish a better balance of strength and flexibility. As you work to stretch the inner muscles of the shoulder and strength on the upper muscles of your back, you will stand up straighter, just like your mother always wanted you to and your neck will feel better as a result.
