Hi! I am Dr. Syed Amiry. We are at Reston Dermatology & Cosmetic Center in Reston, Virginia. We are talking about how to choose the best over the counter products to rejuvenate your skin. In this segment, we will talk about sun damaged skin. Sun exposure causes a lot of changes in the skin. These include black skin, dull appearance, and as well as cobble-stoning which is rough surface and also uneven texture of the skin. So the products we use to treat sun damaged skin exfoliate the skin and also causes the production of collagen. One of these is RoC Deep Wrinkle Night Cream which contains Retinol. Retinol not only exfoliate the skin and removes the superficial dead layer but it also causes the production of healthy cells and deep down into the skin, it causes the production of new collagen. The next product is Oil of Olay Regenerist products. These contain hydroxy acids and the function is very similar to RetinA, and that is they cause the production of new collagen but it also exfoliate the skin. How are these apply? You can use the Alpha hydroxy acids or the hydroxy acid in the morning and at night and the Retinol at night. Coming up, in the next segment I will talk about acne and how to treat it.
