Dr. Chris Maulik: My name is Dr. Chris Maulik. I'm a orthodontist at Sandiego California. This video is in regards to how to take care of your braces. What I'm going to cover is things to avoid with your braces and what I mean by that is hard foods or sticky foods. The braces are just glued on to the teeth with a composite resin. This composite resin can only take so much force so when you eat anything hard such as ice, tortilla chips, hard breads, hard candy, any of those types of things when you hit them with that food it can just break the bracket off very easily which can slow down your treatment time. You have to be very careful of things to avoid when you have your braces. If you eat something very sticky, it can pull the band off which can loosen the bend and then you can possibly get cavities underneath and it can be very sour as well when the bend is loose, because it is pushed into the gums. So it's important to avoid anything sticky, chewy, or hard. And examples of that again are tortilla chips, ice, anything hard breads, pizza crust, hard candy, those type of things that you need to avoid so that you can keep yourself in braces. Assured amount of time is possible and moved from them is efficiently is possible. That will cover on how to take care of your braces. Thank you very much for listening.
