Why is body composition important? Taras Raggio: Body composition is the relatively amount of fat, fat free body mass. It's an important component to health and wellness. Because the bodies stores essential and non essential fatty acids. Non essential fatty acids in men make up 3-5% and 8-12% in women. Fat free mass includes the bones and the teeth and connective tissues. A balance of one with out the other can risk life threatening injuries.
