Male Speaker: An example of the largest type of steam engine is the Mallet. It has twelve driving wheels. To operate steam locomotive wheels, high pressure steam is pumped from the steam chest into the cylinder. The steam expands forcing the piston to the right. As steam in the left side of the cylinder escapes through the exhaust board, more steam enters the right side cylinder, the value closes off the board and steam in the right side of the cylinder expands, pushing the piston back to the left to start their process again.
