Nessa Wrafter: I am here with Trish Whelan who is a Reiki master and she is going to tell us about what Reiki really is. Hi Trish! Trish Whelan: Hi Nessa! How are you? Nessa Wrafter: Very well, thank you. Well, thanks for having us. Trish Whelan: Well, my pleasure. Nessa Wrafter: So for everybody out there who doesn't know what Reiki is, can you give us a basic rundown? Trish Whelan: Well, Reiki is an ancient form of natural healing. The word Reiki itself is the Japanese word for universal radiant energy and ultimately in a Reiki treatment, the therapist is working to balance the energy with the seven chakras down the body. Nessa Wrafter: So it sounds like, it would be really good for somebody in the run up to their weeding getting really stressed about all the little details? Trish Whelan: Well, it gives you I suppose time to reconnect with yourself and just gives you that extra chance to breath basically, because I am sure it is stressful, it's a stressful time and sometimes I can kind of escalate I am sure. Nessa Wrafter: How does it feel during the treatment and how does it feel after the treatment? Trish Whelan: Having Reiki you will be lying on the bed and you will be disconnected from any external stimulus. So, different things happen for different people. The first treatment I tend to find and for me personally when I had my first treatment, it's like you are kind of thinking, what's happening, what are they doing, where are they going now. So you think about getting into a flow basically and you are just open, you feel more open you can feel different shapes in your chakras. So if you are releasing energy from your solar plexus which is where we are all holding our memory and our anxiousness and our worries and any troubles. So sometimes you feel that just leisurely kind of physically leaving your body and sometimes you can feel quite long and like you are stretched when the therapist is working on your root chakra. So you can feel the energy leisurely coming down your body. Nessa Wrafter: How many Reiki treatments do you recommend somebody to have either just before a weeding or big event or just in general? Trish Whelan: It's very much dependent again on the person, but I would recommend one treatment really starts the ball rolling and you really start to feel the benefits after three. So depending on how stressed you are about -- I mean sometimes people think I want to go in a Reiki, because I have got eczema or I want to go over an Reiki because I have got acne and then ultimately the acne or eczema that's not the problem. You unravel what really is the problem. So I would think that would six treatments really pre-weeding would get you feeling very relaxed and radiant for your big day. Nessa Wrafter: Well, it sounds amazing; I can't wait to give it a try. Trish Whelan: Shall we get you on the bed now? Up you go in here. So how are you feeling? Nessa Wrafter: It is really beautiful. Trish Whelan: Oh! Thank you Nessa, I am really glad you enjoyed it and it's an absolute pleasure for me to treat you and to experience your beautiful energy. So thank you for coming over.
