Learn about Organic food and Organ Donation Female: Squeezing as many fresh fruit and vegetables in to your day as you can will enhance your health and vitality; everybody needs at least five serves per day. So pick up an apple and start munching, will you choose to chew on conventional fruit. Or will you all out for organics, paying nearly three times the price? Is there really any difference? Random surveys done on conventional fruits and veggies have unveiled chemical residues on 20% of tomatoes and 50% of apples. Carrots on the other hand have a low incidence of pesticide residue but it is still crops up occasionally. Pesticides have been linked to cancer and respiratory problems among other things. If you are not convinced that giving veggies a good scrub in water will remove the chemicals. Perhaps opt for the organic alternative, what you pay more for in the shopping basket now. You may save in hospital fees later by choosing organics; you may be getting more nutritional value too. According to the Biodynamic Federation recently tested conventional produced has about half the vitamin content that it did in 1963. A two year study revealed that organically grown foods have over 60% more vitamins and minerals than conventionally grown. Organics have more antioxidants too; apparently herbicides and pesticides disrupt the antioxidant production in plants. Because of the plant have no natural enemies like weeds or bugs to compete with. It doesn’t have to produce as many antioxidants to stay alive. But it is not just fruit and veggies people are concerned with, what about the nature rating? Many people are opting for meats produced from organic pastures. There is also a concern with the over prescription of antibiotics and growth hormones in the cattle and poultry industries particularly. A recent study on breast feeding mothers confirmed that those who ate organic dairy and meat products have better quality breast milk and more of it due to the higher levels of beneficial fatty acids in organic produced. Growing things organically and biodynamical is not only a great thing to do for ourselves. It is good for the environment too, improves soil quality and clean waterways will ensure food production continues for many generations to come.
