Melanie Raposo: Hi everybody! I'm Melanie Raposo and welcome to mommy's minute. If you consider in adopting, there are two types of adoption open and closed adoption. With an open adoption birth parents and adopted parents have greater control over the adopting process. At the same time the child may want to establish the relationship with their birth parents. This can usually make adopted parents feel their role as parents has been threatened. In a closed adoption adopted parents usually feel more secure in their role as parents. However some children may feel unwanted or rejected by their birth parents, this can lead to severe emotional problems. Well both proves have their pros and cons. The most important thing is to provide your child with a loving supportive home in which to grow.
