Male Speaker: The microwaves which are present in microwave oven oscillate at 2450 megahertz. This region is located at the lower end of the radar band, slightly higher than FM radio, VHF and UHF TV. This is known as the non-ionizing region. Raise in the ionizing band include everything above the visibile light spectrum, ultraviolet, x-rays and gamma rays and cosmic rays. Ionizing rays are extremely dangerous and that they possess enough energy and intensity to literally rip electrons off of molecules, effectively changing or mutating their structure. The non-ionizing nature of microwaves is much different. In that it doesn't have the same damaging properties as ionizing radiation. Question still remain however as to whether there are any damaging consequences of repeated exposure to low levels of microwave radiation. Reginald Chandler: And just like the microwave if you are up on the radar, the radar -- like a microwave because it is a magnetron and is costly energy gone around as since your body is made up of liquids and fluids in itself you will pretty much be cooked like the microwave cooks your food.
