Lasik or laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis is a surgical procedure intended to reduce a person’s dependency on glasses or contact lenses. Lasik’s surgery is most commonly perform as a cure for myopia or nearsightedness but can also be use to cure hyperopia, farsightedness or astigmatism, corneal irregularity. Lasik is a procedure that permanently changes the shape of the cornea using a special laser and thus focusing the light raise exactly on the retina. The steps of the procedure are as follows. A sanction ring is place on the eye to stabilize and check the eye pressure. The micro kerotom, a cutting instrument is attached to the sanction ring. The blade of the micro kerotom is use to cut a flop in the cornea. The expose inner layer of the cornea is then reshaping with an eximer laser, the corneal flop is return to its original position. Lasik is ambulatory procedure the patient can walk in to the surgery center, have there procedure and walk out again and this awake the whole of time. occasionally the doctor may administer a mild oral sedative.
