Melanie Raposo: Hi everybody. I'm Melanie Raposo and welcome to mommy's minute. International adoption has been suddenly increasing over the last few decades. Many parents opt for international adoption to provide a less fortunate child with a loving home. Compared to domestic adoption, international adoption has shorter way times, but it's much more expensive; ranging anywhere from $10,000 to $50,000 and requires you to travel to the child's home country. Also, adoption loss may differ depending on the country. There maybe some restrictions on age, income, and marital status. Well, the majority of international adopted children are under the age of one, adopted parents need to recognize that, if they're adopting older child, barriers may exist like language differences and greeting customs. Having a great family support system and communication is a key to helping your child during these stages.
