Learn about HP Eco Solutions Program Mike Agerbo: One thing for a lot of consumers in businesses were concerned about the footprint that we live on the environment when it comes to using technology products. Well to help us to understand how we can look at that we have Frances Edmonds from HP, thanks for coming no the show. Frances Edmonds: You’re very welcome. Mike Agerbo: A lot of us use printers. I know you guys are now making the information available right on the boxes. Frances Edmonds: Yes so we recognize a lot of customers didn’t really understand and didn’t have access to the information about what kind of footprint the product has it they’re looking to buy. So we made it easy for customers today by actually putting this information right on the box and they can have a look at it, it’s part about eco solutions program and this is called the eco highlights label and has lots of the relevant information and energy star would be obviously one of the prime things that but there’ll be other things like small weight transportation provider and the amount of recycled contempt because there’s something that customers are quite interested in. We’re also introducing a couple of new tools for small medium business owners who want to stop to measure their own usage of these products and make some changes in the way that they do that. Well, it’s important to start tracking that we’re giving some tools so that you can start to measure how much paper you’re using, what your energy consumption is using of the tools from HP and then after certain period of time coming back and saying okay so how would did I do and the next tool that we’re producing is a tool to help you actual report on that and it’s called the sustainability reporting tool kit. So there are a couple of really neat tools that will help our customer’s load of us a print. Mike Agerbo: So on this tool kit what does look like is that an Excel and Spreadsheet? Frances Edmonds: Yes we have some guidelines a Word format we have an Excel spreadsheet while you’re entering your numbers in your data and does to calculations for you and even gives so nice neat little graphs that you can pull out and put in to our report for your customers, for your employees, it’s going to help you demonstrate that you really are committed to reducing your footprint. The inner part here is that if y you’re actually measuring something it gives people more space in their mind to think about this things and so if you’re measuring something, something gets done about it so by actually starting to measure then being able to report on that you create some momentum because you go okay we have achieved this so what’s next and keeping on the sustain ability journey. Mike Agerbo: Oh I think that’s a really important point when you see that it really makes you think when you are printing and we can see how this tool with the help of business be more aware of that so— Frances Edmonds: Absolutely and today we know customers our own customers are asking us we know that customers, customers are asking them. So what are you doing for the environment and if we make it easy for people to measure, track and make those changes and then report on them it’s satisfying a business need for them for sure. Mike Agerbo: Well I want to thank you for coming on the show. Where can people find a more information about this? Frances Edmonds: HP.ca/environment and it’s the first place to go. Mike Agerbo: That was Frances Edmonds from HP teaching how we use consumers and businesses can lower our footprint on the environment.
