About Energy in Oriental Medicine On behalf of tvlesson.com, I am Dr. Justin Newman, Doctor of Oriental Medicine with thebanyanholistic.com. Let’s talk a little bit about energy. Energy is the inherent force in nature. There are some principles that govern our understanding of energy such as how is energy inflow? How does energy manifest? Again, although we seem solid, really we’re energy. We’re a field of energy and understanding the role that this plays in Chinese medicine is very important. Energy flows along pathways in the body but manifest into different levels or dimensions. If you can picture your system as if it were an onion with many layers, you have a good understanding of what’s happening energetically in your body. The body that we relate to is the dense physical body. However, there’s an energetic body as well. There’s also energy of frequency that manifest in terms of our mental or spiritual self. Some people can even see this aura around others. Photographs are taken off this bioelectric field in the realm of acrylian photography, so you see pictures of this energy at work. In acupuncture, in Chinese medicine, we’re looking to move this field of energy along if it become stuck somewhere. There are many ways the energy can become stuck. You may have trauma. You may have toxins; perhaps stress and tension are affecting the system. Although we may try to cope with the energy flow as best as possible and although the mechanism in our system helps to manage flow, it can be overwhelm from time to time. This energy is stored in the body in terms of the essence that keeps you going, in terms of the energy that protects you and also, in terms of your consciousness as a manifestation of this energy. This energy field extends beyond your physical self and helps you to relate to others as they come into your environment. Acupuncture deals with this energy and helps you to manage the free flowing energy in your system so that anything that may be a pressure from outside or from within can be put back into proper harmonious flow. On behalf of tvlesson.com, I am Dr. Justin Newman. Thank you for watching.
