Colonoscopy is a procedure used to examine the inside of the large intestine also known as Colon. The physician inserts a viewing instrument called the Colonoscope to the patient's rectum and into colon. The inside of the colon can be seen through the viewing lens on the Colonoscope and also on a video monitor. Here looking through the viewing lens on the end of the scope, we can the lining of the colon. A small growth is visible on the colon valve. Using an instrument called the Forceps which is inserted through the Colonoscope, the physician examines and then lifts the growth slightly. The physician then directs an electrical current down the Colonoscope to the Forceps. The electrical burns away the growth.
