Male Speaker: My name is Dr. Kerry Assil and today, I will be performing eye surgery on Jim correcting his cataract and his astigmatism. And I expect him to go from being nearly legally blind to having better vision than he can ever remember. So Jim, today, you are going to benefit from lots and lots of new technology. We'll use cold Ultrasound for him to remove the cataract and that will minimize the amount of swelling in the eye. We'll use a diamond scalpel to change the shape of his cornea. Look down towards your toes. Good, that's perfect, right there. When I take out the cataract, I'm going to put in a lens that further diminishes your astigmatism and that lens is called the toric lens. What we are going to do next is we are going to after the cataract itself. What we are doing is we are chopping up that cataract; the core of this thing is so thick that even the strongest ultrasound is going slowly through it. Perfect! He's good. Beautiful! Now that all the contents of the cataract are gone, we want to give you a brand new lens. As the lens comes in, it looks to you, you will see kind of like a rainbow of colors possibly. You like that rainbow? Jim: I like that. Male Speaker: I don't expect you to see much right now but we will see if you can see anything. Okay, go ahead and open your eyes.
