Learn about Anorexia Nervosa Male: The kids eating. Male: Most time it’s a female and they think they fat and you look at them they’re already underweight yet they have a vision of them being overweight, these were condition that goes with this? Male: Yes, that’s Anorexia. It can also—this also spectrum there and anorexia bulimia but most of bulimics are normal weight it’s the anorexics will really restrict food .And what I do was when I have somebody suspected that in the office I ask them, do you see yourself—how do you see yourself? Do yourself with being overweight? Most of them will say they’ll be honest. They will say, I’m fat and you can see their bones if they’re really thin. Male: Is there any way you can treat that kind of situation? Male: The majority of treatment is psychological that involves a team approach in nutrition, making sure they get adequate calories. If somebody is very thin and anorexic you don’t want to feed them too much because there’s something called the Refeeding Syndrome. They can get electrolyte imbalance and actually die for a minute. So you want to— Male: So you watch a place that’s skillful and have seen your situation before. Male: Yes. A lot of times it involves a contract they have to actually go and sign a contract that they’re going to agree to nutritional rehabilitation. Male: So there’s a risk of death with these conditions. Male: Yes, very much so. Hyperkalemia is the usual cause of death. Male: A lot of famous people in the past that actually die from this.
