Hi, everybody! I am Melanie Raposo and welcome to Mommy's Minute. In the past, C-section birth were considered necessary for pregnant plus size women, but is it still the case. Well today, C-sections are still considered a good option for plus size women because they tend to have longer labors and larger babies, but C-sections can cause respiratory problems, bleeding, and infection for the baby. Controlling weight gain to a healthy rate of 15-20 pounds can lower your risk of a C-section. Eating healthy and exercising can also help. While being overweight can cause more labor complications, experts suggest that plus size women express their concerns early on to the doctor to ensure their child birth experiences are positive, healthy ones.
