Host: The reason we don't want to give juices to kids would be what reason? Maria Monteverde: Basically, it is just empty calories. Empty calories that they really don't necessarily get full from. There are some studies that suggest that basically the high sugar content can actually make you more hungry for the insulin resistance issue. But basically, you always want to eat your food and not drink it for all the other vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants that you can't get in the juice. Host: I mean, it's like raise your pressure quickly. You bring it down quickly and you get more hungry after you drink the juice. Maria Monteverde: Exactly. Host: So, in other words, if you stop the habit early of not giving juices might be a very good idea. Maria Monteverde: Exactly.
