Jersey Core Workout Audra Lowe: Well Mirabelle's, we might be in the wrong job because some of the most interesting jobs out there right now seemed to be for the cast of reality shows. In fact, the Jersey Shore is known for their crazy antiques and some serious muscles with The Situation. Well, Andréa found out a way that you can get a Jersey core and that’s in today’s Getting Fit. Andréa: Everyone is talking about the Jersey Shore and the Situation and Snooki. Well, leave it to New York Sports Club to come up with the workout called the Jersey core which brings all those great personalities run into a class. I've got Monica Vasquez. So Monica tells us a little about this crazy Jersey core workout. Monica: Well the Jersey core workout is a lot of fun. It’s all about having a good time, wanting to comeback to work on your abs and getting a situation going on. Andréa: I like it. And I know that moves in the class all have a little bit of flare to him along with the music and let's get right into this. Tell me the first move that we’re going to do. Monica: The first move is going to be the warm-up. So to get your heart rate going, we’re going to do some Jersey Shore fist pumps. Andréa: All right. Monica: Alternating. Yeah, imagine being at the bar and doing a nice little dance, Jersey Shore music. Andréa: Oh yeah. I feel it. I feel it. Monica: Are you ready to move on to the first exercise? Andréa: Let's get into that core work because I need to get a situation back together here. Monica: All right. Let’s do this. It’s called the tan trick. We’re going to start in a downward dog position. So ready and bring it down to a downward dog then you're going to bring it down into a straight arm plank and bend to a side plank. And bring it down and do it one more time to the other side, down, into a plank. Andréa: So now, someone is doing this workout at home and throw on your own Jersey core music. How many wraps would you do of this tan trick move? Monica: You would do about 15 to 20. Andréa: Nice work. Monica: Really good yourself. Moving and sweating. Andréa: All right. What’s our next core move? Monica: The next one is called the S train. You can actually stay in this position and you're going to do alternating knee ins. Right knee to the elbow, keeping your hips down really stabilizing in your core. Andréa: All right. Now just like on the Jersey Shore, who are the people who are working out our core with us today? Monica: My beach hottie is over here, are Steven and Charmaigne. Andréa: All right. I like that move. Do we’ve got one more core workout we can show to people at home? Monica: Sure, we do. It’s called the opportunity. You're going to lay face out on your mat and you're going to do reverse crunches. You're going to keep a 90 degree angle on your legs, lower it down until your feet barely touch the floor and bring it up. Hold your belly button in and stabilize your hips and really use those lower abs to bring it up. Andréa: I like this. And I think you told me earlier that this is the one that really gets that lower v-cut going on your abs. Monica: That’s right. When you wear that bikini and you want to show it off, do some of these. Andréa: All right, so I really like my abs best when in this position in a nice flat position. So if you're ready for a Jersey core workout to get your situation going on, check out New York Sports Club latest class. I'm Andréa Metcalf, follow me on twitter@andreametcalf. Audra: Wow, just legs up, feeling the burn. It looks intensive but definitely effective.
