Raena: Hello I’m Raena Morgan with iHealthTube. Talking with Sherrill Sellman about women’s health, and one of the things that we want to talk about is the role of estrogen in fat. Sherill: The trend for most women, pre- menopause and menopausal women is to be estrogen dominant. They have excess amounts of estrogens out, something we need to know about estrogen. Estrogen is a hormone that turns food into fat, estrogen stimulates the growth of cells that proliferates cell growth. Estrogen is the primary hormone that really starts developing secondary sex characteristics in women. So we start developing our breast, we get curvy that’s estrogen. And part of that effect is because it is able to stimulate cell growth and laying down help itself. Raena: What happens when we have excess estrogen? Sherill: Because not only does estrogen proliferate the growth of estrogen sensitive cells around the body. But also the more we have fat on our bodies, the more over weight we become, the more fat cells actually themselves produce estrogen so when we are out of balance and we are ovulating, which—
