Question: Is a woman more likely to have an eating disorder as an adult, if she had one as a young woman? Dr. Vicki Berkus: I would say that, yeah part of the recovery is ongoing and because women at different stages and there life have different stress and different expectations from their body, I think someone whose had eating disorder always has a heightened awareness of their body image and the relationship with food. So it's a good idea for them to continue their recovery process and to get support, can they live normal life? Sure. Can they meet their goal? Sure. But its something that I thing that heightened the awareness continues with them throughout their growth.
