Inexpensive Essentials for Home Cleaning Bea Broda: Going to the supermarket to buy cleaning products can be a pretty confusing experience. There are so many products out there. But which ones do we actually need? To help answer that question today is Charles MacPherson. He is the president and the founder of the Academy for Butlers & Household managers. Welcome to the show Charles. Charles MacPherson: Thank you for having me. Bea Broda: What do we do just to narrow it down? Charles MacPherson: Well we actually don’t need a lot of cleaning products so we’re going to keep it quite simple. So we’re going to through off with a caddy, and inside our caddy, we had a squeegee for doing shower doors and windows. We have some Ziplocs bags for dirty things that we find and we use once we’re going through the house, and a pari of disposable gloves. Now, let’s add some things into our caddy. First of all, some dusting cloths and some regular micro fabric cloths are really great. And if you get them in different colors, then you can use a different cloth for the bathroom or for the kitchen so you don’t cross contaminate. Bea Broda: Good idea and they feel so soft. Charles MacPherson: And you can actually wash them for they’re reusable which is wonderful. Then we’re going to include the toilet brush so you’d include the inside of the toilet bowl. Next a good cream cleanser that you can use and then some baking soda which allows you to clean different surfaces; a good all-purpose cleaner and last but not the least, some vinegar to disinfect. Bea Broda: Is this for all rooms? Charles MacPherson: That is that you can clean as entire house with that caddy. Bea Broda: Really? And it looks like you’re thinking about the environment by some of these products too. Charles MacPherson: It’s great because they’re natural so if you think about using that on your kitchen surfaces where you’re cooking, then you know you’re not having that chemical residue. Bea Broda: So this one little caddy is all I need. Charles MacPherson: That’s all you need. Bea Broda: Oh, I love it.
