How Wal-Mart Enables Environment Career Dreams Erik Michielsen: How are you applying your passion for the environment to make a difference on how the world will be for a future generations? Andrew Hutson: I’d really set my whole career path on that, towards that end, towards that goal. And I kind of made the decision if I was going to take this route, that I wasn’t going to try to save an individual, and really try to hit the big time, or save the forest. I’ll never going to achieve that end. But I've really decided that I really wanted to go from maximum impact. There's a couple of different tools you can use in order to really change the world in terms of improving environmental conditions. One is sort of the traditional regulatory stuffs and working on that in the public sector. Or you can really go for trying to change behavior in the private sector. And I've focused my career on trying to change the private sector. And recently trying to work with the world’s biggest company and arguably the world’s most powerful company to change what their doing in order to influence environmental outcomes. I decided that there weren’t enough people focusing on the private sector or if they were, they were doing it through the public sector and they're left a big opportunity for me to have explore what the levers were to pull. And so that’s the way that I've done.
