Hi, I am Marilyn with Get It Together Organizing. I am going to show you how to pack a suitcase if you are flying or carry-on only. This will save you money and time at the airport. I recommend getting a soft bag, way that kind of hard but not the real hard ones because these have outside pockets which come in very handy. Okay, you can have a carry-on which you just saw and then you can have a personal item which is like another carry-on. I just use both of these to go to Japan so I know that they airline approved. To help for a carry-on only, you have to know what you are going to wear. It is not, I think I will pick this shirt, and this shirt and maybe I will wear this one and maybe I would not. No, you have to know that you will wear what you take. I like to put everything in the large Ziploc bags or whatever so I take that in. I want to show you what to pack; night clothes, shirts, take two short sleeve shirts and one long sleeve and then you are wearing one so that gives you a total of four shirts. Unless you are going to some place cold then you reverse that. You take long sleeve and one short sleeve in case it gets warm during the day. Pack two pairs of shorts or two pairs of pants and wear one. That gives you three pants. Here is lightweight jacket. Shoes if you carry an extra pair of shoes, take the shoes that weight the least, those that you are going to pack. The ones that you wear are the ones that you weigh the most. And you take out all air out of those so that it does not take up too much space. You can even fit in some slippers. Take some slippers and they do not really care in case you lose them or you do have too much to come home with, you will not feel bad if you leave those at your destination. You need kleenexes. I was like to taking extra bag in case I buy too many things for my suitcase and I can check it going one way if I have to and I will have that with the carry-on. And of course, you will need to pack your underwear. Take extra bags of all sizes and voila, you even have room to bring home souvenirs. I forgot to tell you of course you will need your—personal items. Before you leave for the airport, take anything that is liquid or gel, three ounces or less is what you can take on the plane, put those in a cord Ziploc bag and you can slip them right here in your outside pocket. And after you got through security, then you can take them out and put them in your kit that you are going to take. Another great idea is to use a bungee cord. I know this is a car bungee cord. You know bungee cords are cute but you attached this to here and you have to have an extra heavier jacket and you can attach this to the outside so you do not have to carry it around to the airport with you.
