How to Make Quirky Quinoa Jon: Hi Jon and Julieanna here and today we have a recipe called the Quirky Quinoa and we’re going to use this Quinoa that I am kind of new too to create a dish and you can make on the weekend and keep on a Tupperware and eat it through out to it because it is so good and so healthy for you. So Julieanna tells us about a little bit about Quinoa. Julieanna: Yes, I would love to. Quinoa is a super grain. It’s basically just a grain that’s got all the amino acid so it is a really good source of protein. It also had tons of aminos and vitamins. And by the way you can find it anywhere, it sounds funny it looks funny it start with Q-U-I-N-O-A but it is everywhere, every grocery store should have it. It’s been around forever in ancient grain, that very healthy and versatile, you could use it like couscous and it cooks really fast and really yummy. Jon: Okay so, today before in this Quirky Quinoa we have some garbanzo beans or chick cheese. Julieanna: Has fiber and vitamin B. Jon: Some brown rice. Julieanna: More fiber. Jon: You have tomatoes. Julieanna: Lycopene, lutein, vitamin C. Jon: Some straw of peppers cherry and I like spicy food Julieanna: And the— Jon: And bell peppers also are the color there. Julieanna: Vitamin C, lots of vitamin c. Jon: And Broccoli because you go broccoli. Julieanna: Iron nutri in heaven. Jon So this is a healthy quick recipe you can make at home and eat all week. So, let’s get going. Julieanna: Can’t wait to try it. Jon: All right, so our Quinoa is boiling we put it one cup of Quinoa in with two cups of water. Julieanna: First you boiled the water though. Jon: Right, the boil, water’s boiling first and now we’re going to add the can tomatoes and the quinoa has to cook for 12 minutes so we’re going to add those and then from there we’re going to add the garbanzo beans. Julieanna: Check. Jon: And then the peppers, and what all these to kind of mix into the quinoa and garlic. Julieanna: Mix this is in Jon: Yeah, a little bit of mince garlic here that comes in a jar. It smells really garlicky. Julieanna: It does. Hungent Jon: Yeah, will be that that. And we just stir it and let it cook for about 12 minutes. All right, so we decided also to add a little bit a hot sauce because I like it really spicy so we’re going to add some hot sauce and it’s been cooking for about eight or nine minutes now so we’re also going to start adding the veggies because I’ve been want them to mushy I want them still a little bit crispy, crunchy. Julieanna: To maintain other nutrient. Jon: That’s right. Julieanna: The more there cook a lot of nutrient get melt out. Jon: And we have some pre-cooked brown rice as well, these are already to go we’ll just going to add it here and then you’ll mix it up. Julieanna: Careful. Jon: It’s a lot to kind a mix around but. Julieanna: So colorful and it smells really good. Jon: So I tell all my athletes also you want to be eating with a lot of real food. Julieanna: Awesome, yeah. All true. Jon: So this is like really good food for most exercise or even pre exercise, just really good nutrient rich food. Julieanna: Yeah, and cause that so much all the amino acid, the protein after work and you want to have amino acid to replenish whatever you love plus a lot of starch and which carbohydrate which what will put that all energy for the next work out and help you repair and get ready to recover. Jon: That’s right, awesome. Julieanna: Perfect me out it really the perfect meal if everything represent it. Jon: So this has been cooking for about 12 minutes and the veggies look sloth and I think it’s ready to be putted. Julieanna: Looks delicious, yum. Jon: All right, here’s our Quirky Quinoa. Julieanna: Cheers. I love the wine. Jon: All right, so let’s give this a shot. Julieanna: I’m impressed, good job. Jon: All right.
