Audra Lowe: Well if you wanted to shed some pounds, you know the first thing you got to stay away from is the fast food, but with some simple swaps your favorite meals, you can actually still lose weight and get your fast food fix at the same time. Clint Carter is here. He is the Associate Editor for Men's Health Magazine and a contributor to Eat This, Not That and he is here to show us quite a few tricks -- tricks that I never knew. Good to have you here Clint. Clint Carter: It's good to be here, Audra. Audra Lowe: Yeah. Now, lots of people go to Starbucks, everyday, it's a ritual. Clint Carter: Absolutely. Audra Lowe: Okay, so there's good in the bad. Clint Carter: Well the thing is, when you walk in Starbucks, you see three sizes; you see "Tall," "Grande," and "Venti." Audra Lowe: Yeah. Clint Carter: But what we don't is, there is a fourth size and that's a short cup. That is this one here. Okay, so it looks small and that's because it is. If you are ordering regular coffee, it probably doesn't matter as much, but when you get into these indulgent drinks and you know you should be able to have an indulgence serving down there, you really need to watch a portion size. So, this is a White Chocolate Mocha, the Grande has 400 calories in it. So you go with a short 8 ounces, now this is a USDA's standard serving size. If you are going to have something sweet, that's what you need to have, that's 200 calories, save 200 calories that negates the donut you are going to have when you get hungry - Audra Lowe: Exactly. See I am not picking any Starbucks, but how come we don't make available? How come we don't see, we have to ask for that size? Clint Carter: Exactly, exactly. Audra Lowe: Okay. So you got to watch out for it. Now, we are going to move over to my favorite. We call it, Chipotle. Clint Carter: Chipotle, right so, you know you walk in same sort of thing. You look up at the menu board. It kind of tells you, it's a form you fill out, I need this in the cheese, Sour cream, Guacamole - Audra Lowe: Even if you can't stray away from that. Clint Carter: Exactly, but you can, and that is the thing. You know, all these menus have sort of things you can do to tell or what you want it taken in. Audra Lowe: So this is one of the things that they do offer on the menu, right? Clint Carter: Yeah, this is - look at that this is the Chicken Burrito, a lot of men's health guides go straight for that. This tortilla shell here has 290 calories, just the shell - Audra Lowe: Oh, my god! Clint Carter: Before you put anything in that burrito. Audra Lowe: So just by using heart chops instead - Clint Carter: You switch over to the tacos. You tell them what you want, if you get that menu board, you go for some heat of vegetables, you go for some black beans, some tomato sauces and let us, you had about 350 calories there versus about 900 calories, that's very well. Audra Lowe: Oh my Gosh! Okay, now this one, I think this kind of is a no greater, but I'm thinking with Burger King, just one switch can make the difference. Clint Carter: Burger king, right exactly. The thing that makes Burger Kings burger so much fattier than the burgers at McDonald's and Wendy's is they gob the mayonnaise on everything. So if you don't ask for no mayonnaise on the whopper, you are going to have a 150 calories worth of managed. And so you know you take that off, you switch a 700 calorie burger into about 550 calorie burger and you do that with everything on the menu. Audra Lowe: Alright, before we go, we have a few seconds left. You eat IHOP, you are getting pancakes, you don't want to have it. Clint Carter: Yeah, what you don't want is that what they call it fruit compote. It looks healthy, sounds healthy, but really that's just extra served 200 calories, 150 somewhere in there. All diners, all breakfast stands are going to have fresh foods in the back, you take off the compote, you ask for fresh fruit instead, you're going
